Praying for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit can be with a group or individually. The group usually prays over the person in English and in the Language of the Holy Spirit (Tongues). An individual can also pray for themselves.

For those who wish to pray for themselves I have presented the prayer in imagery form so you can pause, reflect and be present to God.

Imagery is a powerful tool for our body, soul and spirit to receive God’s anointing. The imagination is like the window of the soul that allows the Holy Spirit to speak to us through concepts, thoughts, feelings and images. Praying with the imagination is a powerful way to pray as it unites both sides of the brain, the rational with the intuitive helping us to focus on God through this prayer?

Prayer for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit begins with us imagining ourselves in God’s presence.

The promise of God’s presence is as real now as it was for the disciples with Jesus two thousand years ago.

“And now I am sending upon you what the Father has promised, stay in the city then until you have been clothed with power from on high. “ (Luke 24:49)

Come, Lord Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, release the Power of Your Holy Spirit within me………….. You are the source of my life and holiness and I wish to surrender myself completely to You…………..

Visualise the golden rays radiating out of Jesus towards you ………….

Come, Holy Spirit, and convict me by the Power of Your Spirit, to become aware of the effects of sin in my life that prevent me from worshipping, loving and serving God………………….

Visualise the golden rays radiating out of Jesus towards you …………….

Father, I bring before You all my sinful thoughts, words, deeds and actions and I ask for Your forgiveness and mercy . …………………….

Visualise the golden rays radiating out of Jesus towards you …………….

Come, Lord Jesus, and overshadow me with a new outpouring of Your Holy Spirit and consume me in the Fire of Your love………

“And something appeared to them that seemed like Tongues of Fire. These separated and came to rest on the head of each one of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak foreign languages as the Spirit gave them the Gift of Speech.” (Act 2:3-4)

Release the Tongues of Fire over me in the same way You prayed for Your disciples on the day of Pentecost……………

Jesus I choose to accept the Spiritual Gifts of Your Holy Spirit to grow in wholeness and holiness. I recognise my need for these supernatural Graces so I can witness to the ends of the earth ….

Visualise the golden rays radiating from the Holy Spirit image of a Dove towards you …….

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, create within me a new heart to Sit/ Wait/ Listen for the interior voice of the Spirit…….

Teach me how to pray and co-operate with Your Grace and Gifts of the Holy Spirit for the building of God’s Kingdom here on Earth. …….

Keep praying these words in a mantra form for the next five to ten minutes
