Simple Forgiveness Prayers

The inability to forgive ourselves and to not forgive others can be the pivotal point that prevents us from receiving God’s grace and healing.

Forgiveness is the most basic of all prayers Jesus taught us to say. “Our Father forgive us our debts as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us “ ( Matt 6:9,

Forgiveness is an act of the will and not a feeling and these following prayers will help us to let go and surrender our hurts and pain to Jesus so we can be set free from our spiritual heaviness.

 

Forgiving Yourself:

It’s difficult to ask for forgiveness and Jesus is always there to help us. Forgiveness is the key that unlocks all his heavenly blessings for us to become whole and holy people.

Lord I ask you for the grace to forgive myself for my sinful choices, faults and failings. For all that is truly bad in my life like delving in the Occult, Ouija Boards, Horoscopes, Séances and Fortune Telling. For the way I have sought to consult false gods and idols to affirm me and give me hope and direction in life. I am sorry that I stopped worshipping you and for taking your name in vain and cursing others.

I have deeply hurt my parents by rejecting their advice or values and for using alcohol to mask my pain. I chose drugs to escape the reality of my life; I am sorry for any sins against purity ; adultery; abortions; cheating; stealing and lying . Father forgive me and have mercy on me.

Forgiving your Mother:

Jesus help me to forgive my mother for the times she separated me from being with my father. For the resentment she carried towards my father and never wanting me to love him. How there were different rules of me and not for my sister. It still hurts when she accused me of ruining her life and how much money I cost her. I was lazy, stupid and would never amount to anything in life. That she wished I had never been born, I was a mistake and an unplanned child. I’m having difficulty surrendering my pain and hurts Jesus help me to let go. Amen.

Forgiving your Father:

Jesus help me to forgive my Father for any non-support, any lack of love affection or attention. I forgive give him for any lack of time, for not giving me his companionship, for the drinking or the arguing and fighting with my mother or the other children. I choose to let go my pain and the memories of his severe punishments. I forgive him for deserting us and divorcing mum.

Forgiving my Brothers & Sisters:

Jesus , I extend forgiveness to my brothers and sisters who rejected me, lied about me, hated me, resented me, competed for my parents love, those who hurt me, or physically harmed me and made my life unpleasant in any way. I forgive them.

Forgiving my Spouse:

Lord I forgive my spouse for lack of love, affection, consideration, for the faults, failing’s, weaknesses, and those acts or words that hurt or disturb me. Jesus help me to let go the deep hurts that I want to hold onto. Have mercy on me

Forgiving my Children:

Jesus I forgive my children for their lack of gratitude and respect, obedience, love, attention, support, warmth, understanding; their bad habits, falling away from the Church, any bad actions which disturb me. Thank your Jesus for Your grace to forgive my children.

Forgiving my Son / Daughter in Law:

My God, I forgive my son /daughter in law and other relatives by marriage, who treat my child with a lack of love. For all their words, thoughts, actions, or omissions which injure and cause pain, I forgive them.

Forgiving my Relatives:

Please help me to forgive my relatives my grandmother and grandfather who may have interfered in our family, been possessive of my parents, who may have caused confusion or turned one parent against the other.


Forgiving my Co-Workers:

Jesus help me to forgive my co-workers who are disagreeable or make life miserable for me. For those who push their work off on me, gossip about me, won’t co-operate with me, try to take my job, I do forgive them.


Forgiving my Neighbours:

My neighbours need to be forgiven Lord. For all their noise, letting their property run down, not tying up their dogs, not taking in their rubbish bins, being prejudiced and running down the neighbourhood. I do forgive them.

Forgiving my Church Community:

I now forgive my priest, and the members of my parish community for their lack of support, pettiness, lack of friendliness, not affirming me as they should, not providing me with inspiration, for not using me in key position, for not inviting me to serve in a major capacity and for any other hurt they have inflicted, I do forgive them today.

Professional People: & Tradesman

Lord I forgive all professional people who have hurt me in any way, doctors, nurses, lawyers, policeman, hospital workers, council workers, and Government workers. For anything they did to me, I truly forgive them today.

Lord I forgive any building tradesmen who did not do their work properly on my home or place of work, who overcharged me and took advantage of me as well as motor mechanics and all tradesmen whom I have contracted to do work for me, I truly forgive them.


Employers

Lord I forgive my employer for not paying me enough money, for not appreciating my work, for being unkind and unreasonable with me, for being angry or unfriendly, for not promoting me and for not complimenting me on my work.

School Teachers & Instructors:

Lord I forgive my school teachers and instructors of the past as well as the present. For those who punished me, humiliated me, insulted me treated me unjustly, made fun of me, called me dumb or stupid, made me stay after school or who sexually abused me.

Friends:

Lord I forgive my friends who have let me down, lost contact with me, do not support me, were not available when I needed help, borrowed money and did not return it, gossiped about me.


Special Intention:

Lord Jesus, I specially pray for the grace of forgiveness for that one person in life who has hurt me the most. I ask to forgive anyone whom I consider my greatest enemy, the one who is the hardest to forgive or the one whom I said I will never forgive.

Thank you Jesus I am free of the evil of unforgiveness. Let your Holy Spirit fill me with light and let every dark area of my mind be enlightened.
