God’s Word is a living power and like a two edged sword can seek out the places where a soul is divided from the spirit (Hebrews 4:12).

The Spirit Is the highest part of the soul

Our soul is made of intellect, memory and will.

How these three faculties work together form our spirit.

If these three faculties are focused on just earthly things e.g. money, power, pleasure … our Spirit becomes wounded and has difficulty being in communion with God.

This unbalanced focus on earthly things occurs through un-forgiveness and being emotionally hurt. Our wounded spirit loses its connection with God. The natural connection we had with God as a child has now been damaged.

This is why it was crucial for Mary to be born free from original sin- so she could hear and understand angel Gabriel at the annunciation. Even her cousin Elizabeth & Zechariah were not able to hear the angel properly- because of their wounded spirit. (Lk 1:18-20)

The Angelus Way of praying teaches us how to pray the scriptures and proclaim God’s living word. The Sit/wait/listen Prayer Card steps will enlighten us about our wounds that caused the broken connections with God’s Spirit. As we contemplate and meditate on God’s word the Spirit begins to prompts us how to proclaim, apply or appropriate those promises for ourselves.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,

for he has anointed me to bring

the good news to the afflicted.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives,

sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,

to proclaim a year of favour from the Lord.” Luke 4:18

God desires us to proclaim his love, mercy and healing power to touch all lives so they too can be healed in their memory understanding and will.

Testifying about God’s Word and his actions of love that redeemed us from sin is important- which is why often in healing ministry people are encouraged to come forward and share with the group the healing they have received.

We love because God loves us first (1 Jn. 4:19) so the first “touch” comes from God but we must act- proclaim- on it for the second, third, fourth etc. touches to come. This is what it means when we hear- if we believe through faith that Jesus is the Son of God we are called to proclaim his Word.

The dominating desires of our human nature or sinful habits (or thoughts and intentions of the heart- as expressed in Hebrews 4:12) are set right and begin with this proclaiming or appropriating scripture so we can share in Christ’s promises for a new life through grace (Romans 8:1-17) We can .also take practical steps (like going to confession and Mass)

Proclaiming Scripture brings the emotionally imprisoned freedom. It is not an intellectual exercise but an anointing or movement of the Holy Spirit (God’s “double edge” sword.
